Active Mitigation Solutions, LLC was founded in Michigan with a simple mission: to help communities strengthen readiness through simplicity. We partner with schools, healthcare facilities, municipalities, private businesses, and event venues to assess risks, improve planning, and put practical, effective security measures in place that protect people and operations.

To bridge the gap between policy and practice by helping organizations make informed, realistic security decisions that build safer, more resilient environments.

Active Mitigation Solutions was created after the shooting at Oxford High School, a neighboring community here in Oakland County. That day reinforced something many of us already understood: security has to be built before an incident, not assembled after one. It depends on awareness, preparation, and shared responsibility.

We help schools and other organizations take practical steps to prevent and respond to threats, with clear thinking rather than fear or confusion leading the process.

Security works best when it fits how people already move through a space. We favor measures your staff will actually use over hardware that looks impressive and gets bypassed by lunchtime. That means good design, clear plans, and coordination among everyone who shares responsibility. This balance is what turns a written policy into daily practice.

Active Mitigation Solutions was built to solve one problem: the gap between a plan that satisfies a requirement and a plan an organization can actually execute under real conditions. Compliant versus capable. Closing that gap is the whole point.

Jake's perspective comes from working both sides of it. As a member of U.S. Air Force Security Forces, he operated inside the environments most plans are written to protect, where procedures either hold up under pressure or they do not. Later, in regulatory work with the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), he mentored Site Security Plan development and audited compliance across physical security, cybersecurity, and emergency management. He has seen what a plan looks like on paper and what it looks like when it is tested.

At AMS, Jake works directly with the people who own these decisions in practice: school and district leadership, facilities and operations leaders, safety and emergency managers, and executives accountable for outcomes. The firm's four service areas, Risk and Resilience, Governance and Policy, Strategic Advisory and Integration, and Training and Presentations, share a single purpose: helping organizations move from policy to practice.
